The doors have officially reopened for the 2025 season at Denham Bowls Club – and what a way to start the year!
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on a crisp February evening, proudly led by Club President Brenda Anderson, Club Chairman Steve Menzies, Treasurer Dave Beattie, and Secretary Jennifer Johns.
For many members, it was the first time seeing one another since the close of the 2024 season – and the clubhouse was soon filled with smiles, handshakes, hugs, and more than a few “you haven’t changed a bit!” greetings.
While the bar was sorely missed, all eyes were naturally drawn upwards to the star of the show — our brand-new roof and sparkling ceiling.
👏 A huge shoutout goes to the roof contractors for delivering a solid new shell, but the real transformation came courtesy of Daron Ayris (with help from his sons) who turned that bare structure into a brilliant, bright white ceiling. The result? A totally refreshed atmosphere and a whole new light to the club – quite literally!
Speaking of light, the clubhouse has officially stepped into the 21st century. Gone are the tired old tube lights (they served us well, bless ’em), and in their place, a gleaming array of modern spotlights, expertly installed by the dynamic duo of Daron Ayris and Dave Beattie.
Many club members lent a hand throughout this journey – and they all deserve thanks – but a special nod goes to Chairman Steve Menzies, whose unwavering commitment finally brought the new roof saga to a glorious conclusion. Green light given. Roof delivered. Mission accomplished.
The AGM itself covered all the key reflections from 2024 and looked ahead to what promises to be a bumper year in 2025. Each club officer presented on their respective area: finances, competitions, membership updates, announcements, and plenty of opportunities for questions and suggestions from our members.

Following the runaway success of The Denham Colts, who won their division under the superb leadership of Howard Butler and earned promotion to the top tier (Division 1) of the Ray Keen Buckinghamshire League, the Dynamos will make their debut in Division 5 this season. They’ll be looking to follow in the Colts’ speedy footsteps – so no pressure!
As the formalities wrapped up, the evening rolled on with lively chats, laughter, and a few well-earned tipples. Spirits were high, and the sense of pride in our shared achievements was unmistakable.
Here’s to a fresh roof, new lights, a growing club, and a season full of opportunity. Onwards and upwards, Denham!
